National Poetry Month was inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996. Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world with schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets celebrating poetry’s vital place in our culture. Here at Ethical, I use poems as a kind of sacred text in my platform addresses. This year I am especially mindful of the trauma many Americans are experiencing due to the impact of the new administration's policies and have looked for poems that can provide us with comfort, insight and strength.
