Subconscious bias can be deadly and it is contributing to one of violence in America. Studies conducted at the University of Illinois on “trigger bias” found that when shown a realistic human target, shooters are more likely to pull the trigger when the target was black. Shooters weren’t just faster to shoot at black targets, they were also more likely to fire at a black target. #NoMoreBlackTargets is a campaign with a simple goal: to eliminate the use of human black targets for people learning to shoot - in police academies, on shooting ranges, anywhere someone is learning to use a firearm.

A movement driven by artistic redefinitions of the human black targets – reinventing targets through a range of art and supported by vocal influencers and celebrities – will be launched at ETHICAL. Be sure to join us for an evening of art, music, discussion and planning the future together.
