Hooray for Friday — especially 3rd Fridays at The Café at Ethical, a welcoming place to unwind, relax, enjoy the music, refreshments, good company, and entertainment. Get up and dance if the music moves you! Or just sit back and enjoy.

“Exquisite”  - Stephen Holden, NYTimes 2014

“Cole…displays an exuberant personality, outstanding diction, flawless pitch, and inspired scat technique, all qualities that should place her in the highest echelon of contemporary jazz singers” - Thomas Cunniffe, Jazz History Online, March 2018

“Cole makes you wish the room she is in was nearer to you, and acts as the sage twice her youthful years.” -  All Music Guide

Called "one of the great voices of today," by Jonathan Schwartz, Alexis Cole has been compared to classic jazz singers such as Sarah Vaughan and Anita O'Day.  She's performed with the Boston Pops and New York Philharmonic on stage at venues from Avery Fisher Hall to the Kennedy Center. Her eleven recordings, which feature musical luminaries such as Fred Hersch, Eric Alexander, Bucky Pizzarelli, Anat Cohen, Matt Wilson, and Harry Pickens, have received high praise in the jazz press and are spun on radio world-wide.

Alexis’ music education includes the international and unusual, holding residencies in Ecuador, Japan, and India.  For two tours she fronted the U.S. Army’s Big Band as jazz singer and soldier, sharing the stage with hugely diverse ensembles, while continuing to release a string of well-received albums.  Alexis Cole now heads the vocal program at the renowned conservatory at SUNY Purchase, and is a Jamey Aebersold-sponsored clinician.

Alexis can be seen at top jazz venues like Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birdland, The Jazz Standard, Blues Alley, and Billboard Live, Tokyo.

Alexis will be joined by bassist Dmitri Kolesnik, called “truly inspirational” by Ron Carter, and is known for his “hipster shuffles, bop burners, and dreamy ballads” (Jazz Times Magazine), and by drummer Kenny Hassler, who has performed everywhere from Harlem, to Broadway, and back again.
